AM Best downgrades Universal North America to B+

AM Best has downgraded the financial strength rating to B+ (Good) from B++ (Good) of Universal North America Insurance Company (UNAIC), the Texas-based subsidiary of Puerto Rican insurer Universal Group, because of a 50 percent decline in policyholder surplus in the past five years.
