(Re)insurers are now facing up to a prolonged period of claims development from last month’s US winter storm activity that will likely result in loss creep throughout 2021, with adjusters on the ground suggesting total industry losses may push above the $18bn estimate provided by Karen Clark & Company in the immediate aftermath of the event.
